Congratulations, Antonio

You have earned Academic All-State or Honorable Mention Academic All-State from the KHSAA. Academic All-State is an award for students maintaining a 3.75 – 4.0 GPA while participating in a sport. Honorable Mention Academic All-State is for students maintaining a 3.25 – 3.75 GPA while participating in a sport. These certificates are for the 2009 – 2010 fall & winter sport seasons.
If you received this e-mail you have a certificate in my office. Please come to the front office between classes and ask for Mrs. Board. I will not be in the office before or after school. When you pick up your certificate you must initial a press release giving your permission to release this information to the press. After all the names have been initialed I will send this information to the Messenger Inquirer and they will print a list of all Apollo High School students receiving this honor.
Please try to pick up your certificate this week. This information will have to be sent soon for it to be in the Messenger Inquirer before graduation.

Mothers Day

Mother’s day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May. Oliver Wendell Holmes says “The real religion of the world comes from women much more than from men - from mothers most of all, who carry the key of our souls in their bosoms”. The day was set as an official holiday in 1914 after more than a century of women meeting locally to promote the idea. Our mothers do s0 many things for us. According to some unknown sources mother is the one who understands what his child does not say. There is a Jewish proverb stating “God could not be everywhere and therefore he made mothers”.

5 de mayo

5 de mayo is a day that the Mexican people celebrate because it’s part of the Mexican history. It is when a group of Mexicans from the state of Puebla defeated the French. 5 de mayo has been around for hundreds of years.

Tournament for Breast Cancer

The tournament we are playing about this weekend is because we are supporting anybody who has breast cancer and I think that this is a good thing because we are helping people who have cancer. And all the people who go to watch the tournament have to pay $5 dollars to get in and I hope you can comment on this blog.

SB1070

Well, about the SB1070 I think is a waste of time and will have damage in this country in the future. Maybe not right now, but I do have a feeling that it will soon. Like for now the immigration people are the ones who are really trying to work hard not just for earning money, but helping other family members or just start a new life here. I was born here in Owensboro, KY in 1993, but most of my family isn’t from here. Well, those who are older than me like I have 12 people. Who wasn’t born here that is part of my family. I’m also glad that I have most of my family is here with me because I have some that lives with me here, others who lives in Mexico and Honduras. Like I know I’m from here, but I’m also Mexican and Honduras in me. So where I go or grow as I will always know and remember that I’m mixed in not just one culture. I sometimes ask my self, “If I would be the same if I was only one race or would I be different.” Every day, well most of the time I watch the new, but ask my self has the people really change or stay the same.
In the first section in the SB1070 part B said,
“FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY
21 OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS
22 STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICIONS EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS
23 UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE,
24 WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE
25 PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT

I think to my self how you can tell the difference from people who were born here from those people who won’t. Like I know around the world people are born, but not just one place. The sentence beside the number 22 says, “State where reasonable suspicions exists that the person is an Alien.” Well, I thought the scientist said that we are humans another words we are people, but how come most people are treated different from others just because they are different. Well, news flash every one is different no one is the same.

Immigrations Law

On Friday the bill on illegal immigration was passed. It is considered as the toughest bill of the nation that is signed by the governor Jan brewer of Arizona. The main aim of SB1070 is to identify, execute and deport them. The bill was criticized by president Obama. According to the opponents “it is an open invitation for harassment and discrimination against Hispanics regardless of their citizenship status”. I don’t like this because this is not the fair way of treating everyone who is either legal or illegal. The law is kind a racial profiling that is a form of racism consisting of the policy of policemen who stop and search vehicles driven by persons belonging to particular racial groups. Somebody rightly said “it is very easy to support racial profiling when you are not of the race that’s profiled”. According to the anonymous source “there are 22, 737, 535 illegal’s in the country, 578,399 other than Mexicans and that’s only 4% of illegal’s that are not Mexicans”. The things that are needed to prove your citizenship are-

• A Arizona Drivers license
• A copy of your DD-214
• A passport
• A certified birth certificate

As per the 14 amendment to the U.S. Constitution “No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws”. So where does the law goes now?

My opinion about S.B.1070

Well I have lots of opinions and questions about the bill S.B1070. My first question is for the Americans, what makes you to consider yourself as an American or according to you what’s an American?? My opinion is that the United States of America is no really the land of “white people”. If we go back to the times of Christopher Columbus, North America which the U.S is in North America was owned by the Native Americans, and they weren’t “white”. Now in the United States there are lots of races, so whoever is born in the United States and its skin color is what we call “white” don’t say that the United States is yours. Now the second question is, what would the United States do if there were no immigrants to work in the factories, and the fields?? My opinion to this is that if there were no immigrants in the United States there would be fewer factories and fewer fields, why? Because the majority of the people that work in the fields and factories are immigrants. Why just immigrants? Because immigrants don’t have the documentation required for certain jobs such as being a lawyer, and those types of good pay jobs. Another of my opinions is, why doesn’t the United States runs a check on the immigrants records and if they have any crime record or something close to that they should get deported back to their country and if their record is clean then they should get a visa for a certain amount of time so that they can still support their family, and so they won’t have to become criminals, for example some Mexicans that got deported in the past 5 or 6 years didn’t get enough pay in México and that’s why there is too much drug trafficking and killings.
